Why This Exists
Lebanon does not offer a stable environment. That is not a crisis — it is a design parameter.
Sentinel Haus was founded by a technologist who grew up in this environment — with its power failures, political volatility, currency collapse, and rising physical security risk. The question was never whether smart home infrastructure was desirable. The question was whether any of the available systems were fit for this context.
The answer was clearly no. Google, Amazon, and Apple Home systems depend on foreign servers, foreign law, and continuous internet connectivity. In an environment where grid power is rationed and internet service is intermittent, that architecture fails on its first day of operation.
Beyond reliability, there is the question of sovereignty. High-net-worth individuals in Lebanon and across the Gulf operate under elevated threat profiles — political, physical, and financial. For this class of client, a home automation system that transmits behavioral data to servers in the United States is not inconvenient. It is a liability.
Sentinel Haus was built to answer that liability with the only architecture that addresses it structurally: local control, local processing, local data — and no compromise on any of those three.
